Abstract

While femur fracture due to the birth trauma in the neonatalperiod is rare, bilateral femur fractures is relatively rarer.Risk factors for the development of birth trauma to the babycan be grouped as maternal, and natal factors. In our casethe existing risk factors for fractures of the femur are footpresentation, multiparous mother and Jarcho-Levin syndromein the the baby. Jarcho-Levin syndrome has two subtypescalled spondylothoracic and spondylocostal with vertebraland costal abnormalities which is incompatible with life.Because of the lateral decubitus position of the patient withmeningomyelocele, the newborn was f ollowed up with herlower extremities stabilized in their neutral position. Onemonth after in the follow-up period, we have observed radiographicunion in the direct graphy. In this article, a newbornwith bilateral femur fractures diagnosed as JarchoLevinsyndrome, and relevant risk factors in the neonatalperiod were presented because of its rarity
