Abstract

In recent years, ethical requirements have gained more and more importance in the field of business and profession. In any profession, the concerned parties such as employers, employees and clients are in search for people who are aware of basic ethical principles and requirements in relation to their own professions. The principles of professional behaviour also called as code of ethics, are plausibility tools among the members of that profession, and also keep the consciousness vigorous for the task and the responsibilities to the public. The ethical codes strengthen the sense of belonging to a professional society amongst members who posses and uphold the same values and mission. The main objective, in determining the principals of professional behaviour is to provide a guide for a high-quality service to people. Every engineering discipline has adhere to ethical rules of general engineering and should be able to produce codes of ethics of their own. The chambers of engineers have to undertake the practice of legal tasks and the inspections of whether these codes are conducted properly, as is the case in many countries. This study examines the ethical requirements in the profession of Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering: Hence authors suggest a series of draft code of ethics for geodesy and photogrammetry engineers. In addition it is suggested that the Chamber of Survey and Cadastre Engineers should pioneer the role of scrutinizing and thus improving those draft codes for the professional community.
