Archive Policy Applied in Television Archives

Abstract

Audio-visual archives are divided into types according to the materials produced by audio-visual media tools that have diversified with the development of technology. One of the audio-visual archive types is television archives that operate as a part of the television channel system. Television archives began to form in the middle of the 20th century in connection with technological developments. The recording media in the television archives have also changed in connection with these developments. Archiving, which first started in the analog media, continue todayin the digital media. In this study, the concept of television archive, the importance of television archives, video recording media and formats used in the production of videos are mentioned.
