Abstract

Calvarial tuberculosis is a rare entity in developed countries. Eventhough it is a rare occurrence, the incidence of calvarial tuberculosisis increasing in developed countries because of migration fromdeveloping countries with poor socio-economic conditions, shortageof food, and high prevalence of immunodeficiency diseases. Thedisease mostly involves frontal and parietal bones and presents withpainless swelling of the scalp. Plain X-ray and computed tomographyscans show lytic calvarial lesions, and both computed tomographyand magnetic resonance imaging can demonstrate parenchymalinvolvement of soft tissue. Surgery and antitubercular therapy areclassical treatments. We present a 33-year-old male with painless scalpswelling and a lytic bone lesion.
