Abstract

Precise Point Positioning (PPP) is one of the GNSS techniques commonly used in the applications of tropospheric delay estimation. The use of PPP in realtime applications has been possible with the initialization of IGS (International GNSS Service) products. In recent years, the emergence of new satellite systems has brought along considerable opportunities to improve the performance of real-time PPP solutions. Especially, the constellations of Galileo and BeiDou (BDS) have recently extended, and, at the same time, significant advances have been made in their satellite orbit and clock products. In the light of this progress, the employment of newly-emerged systems in the applications of real-time tropospheric delay estimation is a topic which is taken considerable interest within the GNSS users. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the latest performance of four constellations, namely GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BDS, in real-time zenith total delay (ZTD) estimation. For this purpose, an experimental test, including 20 IGS stations for two test periods as 2021 winter and summer, has been conducted. In addition to single PPP solutions for four global systems, this experiment also contains the multi-GNSS solution where all systems are used together. The troposphere estimations acquired from the PPP solutions have been compared with the tropospheric delays provided by IGS. Results have shown that GPS and Galileo have comparable performances in terms of real-time ZTD estimation with PPP. Besides, the real-time ZTD estimation performance of GLONASS and BDS solutions has been left behind these two systems substantially. Finally, the multi-GNSS solution considerably enhances the performance of ZTD estimation when compared with the single system solutions. The multi-GNSS solution has provided better accuracies by the ratios of 14.1% and 12.5% for ZTD estimation in winter and summer periods in comparison to the GPS solution.
