Abstract
Thumb hypoplasia has a varying range from slight hypoplasia to total absence. Type IV hypoplasia, also known as floatingthumb, includes two small phalanges attached to the hand with a thin skin bridge containing neurovascular bundle. A fifteendays old boy had a mass-like floating thumb, unlikely to frequently encountered. The family was advised to seek geneticcounseling for accompanying abnormalities of the baby. Six days later, the baby showed up with the congested thumb. Asan urgent treatment, the congested hypoplastic thumb was amputated under local anesthesia.
