Abstract
Objectives: Jersey Finger is a rare form of closed flexor tendon rupture. It is classified by Modified Leddy-Packer Classificationand divided into five groups. There is no consensus on treatment, and no specific anterior posterior radiography finding. This paper is aimed to present the short-term clinical outcomes of 11 patients treated for Jersey Finger and draw attentionto an x-ray image in bony Jersey cases. Methods: Eleven patients who underwent surgical treatment for the last five years were evaluated retrospectively. VPS andROM ratio values were used for assessment of clinical outcomes. Results: It was observed that the duration of surgery, the surgical method used or the type of injury had not affect the clinicaloutcomes. Only side of the injury caused significant differences asleft hands’ outcomes were better. In Jersey Fingerpatients with bone avulsion, had an x-ray images resemble a pin-hole.Conclusion: Jersey Finger is an FDP injury that is common among the young sporting males generally related to the dominanthand, and retracted to the A3 pulley commonly. Both pullout and anchor repair methods give satisfactory results. In theradiographs of the patients with bone avulsion a pinhole sign may be seen at the base of the distal phalanx.
