Özet

Bu çalışma Alpamış destanında yer alan bazı şahıs ve mekân isimlerinin totemle ilişkisi hakkındadır. Alpamış destanındaki “Baysın” kelimesi eski Türk kavimlerinden biri olan Usun mitolojisi vasıtasıyla kurt yavrusu Aşina hakkındaki efsanelere dayanır. Etimolojik açıdan bu kelimenin tarihini şöyle açıklayabiliriz: “Aşina→Usun→(bay) Usun→Baysın”. Özbek halkının terkibini oluşturan Uyşunlar da Usun kabilesinin evlatlarıdır ve köken itibarıyla kurt hakkındaki totemistik mitin müellifleri olan Aşina kabilesiyle akrabadır. “Baysın” ve “Bayböri” kelimelerinin “kurt kabilesi” anlamını taşıması Özbek halk kahramanlık eposundaki timsaller dizisinin şekillenmesini eski Türk kavimlerinin totemistik mitlerinin büyük ölçüde etkilediğini gösterir.

Abstract

This study is to emphasize that in Alpamish epic, some of the names of the characters and places are related to the torems. In this epic, coming from Usun mythology which is one of the antic Turkish tribes, the word “Baysın” is related to the “Asina”, the wolf‟s cub. Ethymologically, the history of this word can be explained as such: “Aşina→Usun→(bay) Usun→Baysın”. Uyşuns who were the ancestors of Uzbek people are also the descendents of Usun tribes. They were also the relatives of Aşina tribes who had strong totems and wolf mythology. The fact that words “Baysın” and “Bayböri” which had connections with wolf totem show that the epics had been affected by the mytholgies of the antic Turkish tribes.
