Abstract

Dede Qorqut Narratives, a major literary work regarded as the inventory list of Turkish cultural history, addresses the way Oghuzs perceived the world and its adaptation to the rest of the world with cultural memory transfer. Ottoman Empire, the representatives of Oghuzs, started to construct a social identity in the beginning of the Growth Period, in the regions under its sovereignty. During this process, it was aimed that lands physically conquered would be embraced adoptively. In accordance with this aim, Ottomans, upon initiating an intense cultural movement, enabled Dede Qorqut Narratives, treating Oghuz morals, to be written or compiled. Dede Qorqut Narratives are the literary works formed with the transformation of Oghuz morals into written messages. In the work, mostly, the issue of spiritual evolution of individual is given place. The fulfilment of this spiritual evolution depends on the compatibility of contemplation and recall. In the book, the individual who is supposed to internalise the elements such as virtue, the Divine Kut, mentor/education, wisdom, consultation, advice, religion, dream by mediating on them, should reflect these things in the form of skill, bravery, merit, loyalty, pudicity, obedience, modesty; and arrange his life accordingly. In the Growth Period, Ottoman Empire needed individuals who had reached maturity and fulfilled their spiritual evolution. These people adapting contemplation and recall compatibly into their lives would provide the most crucial support that Ottoman Empire needed in the growth period and in its development.
