Özet
Cari işlemler açığının sürdürülebilirliği hem gelişmiş hem de gelişmekte olan ülkelerde makroekonomik istikrarın temel koşullarından birisidir. Son dönemde sürekli olarak cari açık veren Türkiye’de bu açığın sürdürülebilirliğinin analiz edilmesi önemli hale gelmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de 1980-2017 döneminde cari açığın sürdürülebilir olup olmadığını analiz etmektir. Söz konusu amacı gerçekleştirmek için VAR modeli kapsamında Johansen eşbütünleşme analizi, VECM ve Toda-Yamamoto nedensellik testi yapılmıştır. Analizden elde edilen bulgular; Türkiye’de cari açığın zayıf derecede sürdürülebilir olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
Abstract
Sustainability of the current account deficit is one of the basic conditions for macroeconomic stability in terms of both developed and developing countries. Recently, analyzing of the current account deficit in Turkey which has constantly current account deficit has been becoming important. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze whether current account deficit is sustainable or not at 1980-2017 period in Turkey. To achieve this aim, Johansen cointegration analysis that is one of the VAR models, VECM and Toda-Yamamoto causality test are applied. The findings obtained from the analysis indicated that the current account deficit is weakly sustainable in Turkey.
