A generalized class of di erence type estimators for population median in survey sampling

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a generalized class of difference type estimatorsof finite population median in simple and stratiffed random sampling.The expressions for bias and mean square error are derived upto first order of approximation. Numerical comparisons reveal that theproposed class of estimators performs better than the unbiased samplemedian estimator, ratio estimator, exponential estimator, usual differenceestimator, Rao [10] estimator and other difference type estimators.
