Abstract
Previous studies have suggested some diffe¬rences between primary and permanent teeth in terms of dentin composition and morpho¬logy. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the micromophology of the resin -dentin interface of 15 caries free, extracted primary molars, prepared with three different pretreatment methods on the dentin surfaces. All materials used in the study, were applied according to the manufacturers' instructions. After dissolution of the dental structures of the test specimens in 1 % HCI, dentin - resin in¬terfaces, resin tags and dentinal tubules were examined by SEM. The results of this study in¬dicated that the hyrid layer produced is signifi¬cantly thicker in acid pretreatment group (Group 2). SEM examination also revealed that the longest and the biggest diameter of re¬sin tags were observed in group 2. In group 3 (no pretreatment to dentin) only a few and broken resin tags were observed.
