Özet

Çalışmamızda, Sodyum Florür (NaF) ve Sod¬yum Monoflorofosfat (SMFF) içeren diş ma-cunlannın tükürük ve plak streptokok düzeyle¬rine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Yaşları 4-7 arasında olan çocuklar rastgele 2 gruba ayrılmıştır. 1. Grup NaF içeren diş macunu ve 2. Grup SMFF içeren diş macunu ile fırçalama yaptık¬tan 10 dk., 1. ve 1.5 saat, 1-4 haftalık süreler sonunda tükürük ve plak mutans streptokok düzeyleri belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlar, NaF içeren diş macununun plak streptokok düzeyi üzerinde daha etkili olduğu¬nu gösterirken 1. Hafta dışında tükürük mu¬tans streptokok düzeyleri arasında fark buluna¬mamıştır. Bu sonuçlar, diş macunlarının tükürük ve plak mutans streptokok düzeyini azaltarak diş çürü¬ğü oluşumunu önlemekte en etkili yöntemler¬den biri olduğunu göstermektedir.

Abstract

In the present study, the efficiancy of sodium fluoride (NaF) and sodium monofluorophosp-hate containing dentifrices on the amount of mutans streptococci in the saliva and plaque samples was evaluated. The study subjects aged 4-7 were randomly allocated to two gro¬ups: 1. Group brushed their teeth with NaF dentifrice while 2 group brushed with SMFP dentifrice. Saliva and plaque samples were col¬lected 10 minute, 1-1.5 hour, 1-4 weeks af¬ter brushing and the samples were analysed for mutans streptococci. The results showed hat NaF was more effecti¬ve in reducing mutans streptococci in plaque samples, however there was no difference in mutans streptococci accounts of saliva samp¬les except 1. week (p < 0.05). These results suggest that the ability of daily use of fluoride dentifrices to decrease the num¬ber of mutans streptococci in saliva and pla¬que may be of major importance in caries control.
