Abstract

Laser, medical devices have proven to be useful in the cutting and ablation of soft tissues. Laser which is developed in recent years began to be used also in removal of hard tissues like enamel, dentin and sèment. The erbium, chromium ,yttrium-scandium-gallium-garnet, or Er, Cr .YSGG laser system used in conjunction with an airwater spray has been shown to be efficacious in vitro for cavity preparation. The aim of this study is to compare the process of 'cavity preparation and preparing for restoration' carried out by hidrokinetic laser versus by traditional bur in terms of the 'length of the time spent by. The Er, Cr: YSGG laser system is effective for preparation the cavity. Short procedure period of time is very important in dental practice. In this study we conclude that, the total preparation time is shorter in laser group then bur group. The length of the procedure time can be shortened further by eliminating the etching process in laser group. In this respect lasers would seem to have a much greater role in the future.
