Abstract

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the tensile bond strengths of composite repair with same or different composite resin. Hybrid composite resin samples (Brilliant, Coltene) were fabricated in a specially designed plexiglas mold for tensile strength test. Samples were divided into two groups and Group I aged 24 hours and Group II aged two weeks in water at room temperature. In both groups, composite was repaired either with same composite resin or glass-ceramic microhybrid resin (Arabesk Top, Voco) using two different adhesive bonding agent (One Coat Bond, Coltene or PermaQuick, Ultradent). Samples were stored for 24 hours in water at room temperature and then subjected to tensile forces at the Instron testing machine (Zwick, 1474) with a cross-head speed of lmm/min. Data was analyzed by Two-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD Multiple Comparison tests. Mean tensile strengths of different types of repairs aged 24 hours ranged from 18.9 ± 3.2 MPa to 28.9 ±1.5 MPa, while repairs aged two weeks ranged between 13.6 ± 1.6 MPa and 17.5 ± 0.5 MPa. The highest repair strength was obtained using the One Coat Bond / Arabesk Top combination (p
