Özet

Amaç: H.Ü. Dişhekimliği Fakültesi ve Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu 1. sınıf öğrencilerinin ağız diş sağlığı ile ilgili tutum, davranış ve durumlarının karşılaştırılarak değerlendirilmesidir. Gereç ue Yöntem: H.Ü. Dişhekimliği Fakültesi 'nin 100 1. sınıf öğrencisi ile 97 Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu öğrencisine anket uygulanmış ve ağıziçi muayenesi yapılmıştır. Öğrencilerin tutum ve davranışlarını değerlendirmek için Hiroşima Üniversitesi Davranış envanteri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: iki grup arasında yaş, sağlık güvencesi, mezun oldukları okul, anne-baba eğitimi durumu arasında istatistiksel olarak fark bulunmuştur, iki grup öğrenci de ağız diş sağlığı konusunda bilgilerini yetersiz olarak bildirmişlerdir. Dişhekimliği öğrencilerinin çürük prevelansı % 79, Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin % 81.4 bulunmuştur. DMFT indeksi Dişhekimliği öğrencilerinde 5.10, Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu ise 5.40 olup M ve F komponentleri yönünden iki grup arasında istatistiksel olarak fark bulunmuştur. Gingival ve plak indeksleri benzer bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Dişhekimliği ve Hemşirelik.Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinde ağız diş sağlığı konusundaki davranış ve durumun düzeltilmesi için eğitim dönemleri çok önemli olup derslerinde koruyucu dişhekimliği ilgili bilgiler verilmelidir.

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the oral health behaviours, attitudes and oral health status of the first year students of H.Ü. Faculty of Dentistry and School of Nursing. Material and Methods: One hundred students of the faculty of dentistry and 97 students at the school of nursing completed a questionnaire and underwent an oral examination. To evaluate the behaviours and attitudes of the students, Hiroshima University, Dental Behavioural Inventory was used. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between 2 groups in regard to age, medical insurance, last graduated school and the education level of parents. Moreover, 2 groups were stated their knowledge about oral health as insufficient. The preuelance of dental caries was found to be 79 % and 81.4 % for dental and nursing students, respectively. The DMFT index was 5.10 for dental students and 5.40 for nursing students. Statistically significant difference was found among 2 groups with respect to M and F components. The Gingival Index and Plaque index values were found to be similar in both groups. Conclusion: In conclusion, education is important to change the attitudes and behaviours about oral health of both dental and nursing students and more knowledge about preventive dentistry must be added to the curriculum.
