Dolgunun yenilenip yenilenmeyeceği, yenilenecekse bunun nedenleri kaydedildi. Bulgular: Deneyimli ve deneyimsiz öğrencilerin karar birliğini gösteren kappa degerleri 'kötü' ile 'orta' arasinda değişmekteydi. Deneyimli öğrencilerle öğretim üyeleri arasindaki uyum "önemsiz' ile 'orta' arasinda değişmekteydi. Deneyimsiz öğrenciler ile öğretim üyeleri arasindaki uyum 'kötü' ile 'fena degil' arasinda değişmekteydi. Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın sonuçları öğrencilerin bite-wing radyografilerde amalgam dolguların değerlendirilmesi, dolgu yenileme kriterleri ve sekonder çürük teşhisi konusunda başarılı ve uyumlu olmadıklarını göstermektedir, Bu nedenle klinik eğitim programlarında bu konuya ağırlık verilmesi gerektiği ortaya çıkmaktadır.
Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate observer agreement among experienced and inexperienced students in the replacement decision of amalgam restorations on bite-wing radiographs. The observer agreement among faculty members and these students were also examined. Materials and Methods: Two faculty members, ten experienced and ten inexperienced students were enrolled in the study. Occlusal amalgam restorations of 70 molar teeth on 40 bite-wing radiographs were evaluated by the participants. The replacement decisions and the reasons were recorded. Results: The observer agreements of experienced and inexperienced students were 'poor' to 'moderate'. The observer agreement of faculty members and experienced students was 'slight to 'moderate'. The observer agreement of faculty members and inexperienced students was 'poor' to 'fair'. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the students were not in agreement and they were not successful in the evaluation of amalgam restorations, replacement decisions and secondary caries diagnosis on bite-wing radiographs. Therefore, this issue should be stressed in clinical education programs.
