Abstract
Aim: This study was made to evaluate the knowledge levels of clinical students in our dental school on infection control with the final aim to evaluate the necessity of an additional training to the current training in accordance with the results. Subjects and method: A questionnaire prepared to measure the knowledge levels of students on infection control was administered to 118 students (49 (%41,5) 4th year and 69 (%58,5) 5th year) in 2007- 2008 academic year. Results: The mean of right responses is %79,19 ± 7,57, the median is %80 (min: %50, max: %95). When each question was evaluated separately, it was found that the 9th question, which was about the features of disinfectant, received the highest number of right responses, whereas the 20th question, which was about sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) tablets (Klorsept 87) for surface disinfection received the highest number of wrong responses. Statistically, significant difference between 4th and 5th year students was found in terms of right response to 5th question, which was about the concept of aseptic and septic environment, and 10th, which was about the mechanism of the action of disinfectant (p
