Seroprevalence rates of Hepatitis A virus in different age groups in the province of Afyonkarahisar

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Afyon ilinde farklı yaş gruplarında hepatit A seroprevalansının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Mayıs 2012-Temmuz 2013 tarihleri arasında, hastanemize farklı yakınmalar nedeni ile başvuran ve elektrokemiluminesans yöntemi ile (Cobas 6000 Analizer, Roche marka kitlerle) Anti HAV IgG testi çalışılan 0-57 yaşları arasındaki hastalar, hepatit A seroprevalansının belirlenmesi amacıyla çalışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Bulgular: On beş aylık sürede, Anti-HAV IgG testi çalışılan toplam 1458 hastanın 1016'sında (% 69.68) pozitiflik saptanmıştır. Olgular; 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39 ve 40 yaş üzeri olarak yaşlarına göre gruplandırılmıştır. Bu gruplara ait HAV IgG pozitiflik oranları sırasıyla; % 57.42, % 44.23, % 56.13, % 66,84, % 59.35, % 64.03, % 66.42, % 86.36, % 94.35 ve % 97.79 olarak bulunmuştur.Sonuç: Bu çalışmada, Afyon ilindeki Anti-HAV seropozitifliği, ne yazık ki özellikle genç yaş gruplarında ülkemiz ortalamasından düşük saptanmamıştır. Fekal oral yolla bulaşan bu hastalığın önlenmesinde aşılama, eğitim, sağlık önlemleri ve çevresel hijyen koşullarının önemi kabul edilmelidir.

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence rates of Hepatitis A virus infection in different age groups in the province of Afyonkarahisar. Materials and Methods: The patients aged 0-57 years who consulted to our hospital, between May 2012, and July 2013 were included in the study. Anti-HAV Ig G assays performed by using electrochemiluminescence method (Cobas 6000 Analyzer, Roche Diagnostics) in order to determine seroprevalence of hepatitis A virus infection. Results: In 1016 (69.68 %) out of 1458 patients who were tested for Anti-HAV IgG during a period of 15 months. Anti-HAV IgG seropositivity was found. Rates of seropositivity were detected to be 57.42 %, 44.23 %, 56.13 %, 66.84 %, 59.35 %, 64.03 %, 66.42 %, 86.36 %, 94.35 % and 97.79 %, in age groups of 0-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39 and > 40 years, respectively. Conclusion: Unfortunately, Anti-HAV IgG seropositivity rate in the province of Afyonkarahisar was not lower than the average rate of Turkey, especially in the young age groups. The importance of HAV vaccination, training programs, sanitation and environmental hygiene precautions should be acknowledged in order to reduce seropositivity rate of HAV infection which transmites via fecal-oral route.
