Özet
Bu çalışma A.B.D.
Abstract
The present study deals with the flotation and dewatering test results of fine talc samples received from a location in the USA. The flotation tests showed that polypropylene glycol (PPG) or methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) increased the yield and decreased the LOI of the talc sample, which is necessary for the industrial consumption. In the dewatering study, several novel reagents were developed and tested on the clean talc samples obtained from the flotation tests. The dewatering studies proved that the use of novel reagents effectively improved the hydrophobicities of the talc samples and, hence, water adhering on the surface of the fine particles was instantly removed in a vacuum filter. For example, approximately 10% moisture difference between the base case and reagent was achieved, depending on the dewatering conditions, such as applied vacuum, reagent dosage, drying cycle time and cake thickness. As a result, using the clean and low moisture content talc sample can have the advantages of decreasing the cost of thermal dryers and improving the quality of the end products for the industrial applications.
