Özet

Birçok tanımı yapılan tarihin, bir bilim olup olmadığı ve ne işe yaradığı konusu, geçmişten günümüze kadar sürekli olarak tartışılmıştır. Olay ve olguların gerçek nedenlerini bulmak zorunda olan tarihçi, bir sonucu açıklayan birden fazla neden bulunduğu için, tarihi bakımdan anlamlılığa ulaşana, bütün nedenler arasında nedenlerin nedeni olarak ele alınması gerekeni bulana kadar uğraşmalıdır. Böylelikle görünenlere değil, temelde yatan gerçek nedenlere ve sonuca ulaşabilir.

Abstract

Whether science, which has been defined in many different ways, is a science or not and if it is a science what benefit it has always been discussed from the past till now. Since historians, who are supposed to find the real causes of facts and phenomena, face with more than one cause explaining the effect, they have to endeavor till reaching meaningfulness in historical terms and finding the cause of the causes. Thus, the underlying causes and effects can be attained, rather than what seems to be so.
