Abstract

In this study, the interactive teaching strategy developed apart from the traditional methods and its effect on the teaching of limit concept including the stages of cognitive field, perception and application and misconception emerged at this process have been investigated. With the aim of this, a 100 -students- sample group has been formed from the Primary Mathematics Department of Educational Faculty at Atatürk University in 2003-2004 Academic Year, then the group was randomly divided into two parts as a treatment and a control group. Interactive teaching strategy was used to explain the limit concept in treatment group and traditional teaching models were used to explain the limit concept in control group. The data was obtained by means of Limit Concept Attainment Test and Mathematics Attitude Test. To analyze the data obtained from the groups, percentage-frequency and independent group t- test were used. The results obtained from the study showed that there is a statistically important difference in favour of treatment group in terms of students’ limit concept attainment.
