Abstract

Human beings live in a hostile environment, but the degree of hostility varies with the season of the year and with the geographical location. In order to remove these hostile effects of environment and change environmental conditions to the conditions we feel comfortable we use mechanical systems. Air conditioning systems are the most developed systems used for this purpose. In this article, thermodynamics of the automotive air conditioning systems was examined. Moreover, effects of the ventilation system design on the capacity of automotive air conditioner system components were analyzed. For this purpose a computer program called Automotive Air Conditioning Designer (AACD) [1] was prepared, and four different types of ventilation systems, having the same design parameters and refrigerating system, were analyzed by using this program. The effects of variation of places of system components of the air conditioning cycle on the changes in their capacities are presented.
