Abstract

Recently, with the increasing capacity of computers, more and more chips are being placed in smaller volumes. To keep the temperatures of the electronic components below their safety limits, the heat generated by the elements must be removed from the system, In this study, the heat transfer in channels with heat generating blocks were studied experimentally. To investigate the effects of the flow Reynolds number and heat generated in the blocks on the block temperatures and the Nusselt number, the block temperatures, the rate of the air flow in the channel and the power supplied to the blocks were measured under different conditions. It was observed that as the flow Reynolds number increases, the temperature of the blocks decreases and the Nusselt number increases. In the first module, the temperature is minimum and the Nusselt number is maximum. Starting with the second module temperature increases and Nusselt number decreases in streamwise direction.
