Abstract

Cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut are the main parameters in milling. Their influence on surface roughness has been investigated. The surface roughness (Ra) is measured by using five cutting speeds, four feeds and three depth of cuts after face milling. The cutting parameters and the surface roughness values have been subjected to the regression analysis via the AXUM statistical package program. The most powerful relation factors (R) and the mathematical relationship curves have been obtained for calculation of the intermediate values. The results have showed that the increasing feed increases the surface roughness in 0.8 mm depth of cut, the surface roughness has decreased in the 0.6 mm depth of cut and the high speeds and, in the 0.4 mm depth of cut the surface roughness values are stable although the feeds change.
