Abstract

One of the major objectives of orthodontic treatments, is to achieve an esthetic result. Orthognatic surgery is being used more frequently to optimize treatment results for the patients which had stopped growing and having skeletal discrepan-cy. The available information to predict the soft-tissue alterations resulting from orthognatic surgery, is extremely limited. In that respect, in this case report, the soft-tissue profile response to maxillary surgery at the Le Fort I level was evaluated and the results were examined five years after the surgical operation in terms of being subject to change or not. After the surgical operation, while a progressive increase in the horizontal soft-tissue, movement from the tip of the nose to the free end of the upper lip is observed, no vertical change did occur and mandibutar soft-tissue landmarks have moved hor-izontally forward, vertically upward.
