Abstract
Since the Period of Reforms, there has been many changes in political, social, cultural, military fields and also in literature. Turkish literature which was under the effect of Arabic and Persian languages and literatures modernized itself through Western literature, especially French literature. Thus, Romanticism became the most popular trend and authors such as Chateaubriand, Lamartine, Hugo, Musset effected Turkish authors under European influence. This study aims to draw a parallel between prominent Turkish author Namık Kemal and his novel İntibah and Abdulhak Hamit and his novel Garam ve Kahpe and Hugo's Miserables and Alexandre Dumas Fils's Camille through a thematic analysis.
