Abstract
French semiotics has recently reformed its methodology by the conception of"being". The relations between human sensibility and the world is the new topic of literary semiotics. In this study Chateaubriand' romantic novels are analysed in the new perspectives of discourse semiotics which emphases the categories of "tensiveness", "presence", "aesthêsis", "quantification" ... in order to clarify the hero's relations to the world. The hero is under the influences of his sensations and his sensibility and his passions make him a special kind of person who describes us his representation of the world. Thus, the representation of the world reflects his way of being in this world.
