Abstract

The majority of the contemporary novelists seem to differ from the novelists of the 19th century in that they have their own unique technique, which causes a total imprecision, for the reader, from the first lines/pages of the novel. This is the case for Simone de Beauvoir who inserts details, which usually confuse the reader who seeks certain clues to understand the events. Though imprecise, even enigmatic, the incipit, sometimes give a hint, which clarify features of the romanesque unit, which include times, spaces, characters. Unlike the novels of XIXth century, in which the technique of omniscient narration is used, the novels of Simone de Beauvoir represent this particular technique. This situation evokes the suspense in reader.
