Abstract

With the extension of the railway until Istanbul, the internationally acclaimed Orient Express, which had aroused an interest in numerous authors for the Orient, became a very important part of the Romanesque world, as a palace on wheels.This railway voyage, became a colorful adventure and a perilous ride for those people of various nationalities and different social classes, like diplomats, royalty, spies and businessmen The variety of passengers and the elegance of the train became the source of many a writer’s work. In this study the works of Edmond About - De Pontoise a Stamboul-, Agatha Christie - Le Crime de l’Orient Express»- and Graham Green - Orient Express - are studied to shed light upon the history of this fabulous train.
