Abstract
There is a definite deficiency in the field of concepts of literary theory in Turkey. This deficiency does not stem from the quality of 'vagueness' in literaiy works, but rather from an inadequacy of discussion. It is possible to have a discussion towards eliminating the so-called deficiency in terms of the writer, die text, the receiver, the linguistic code and context 'oriented literary theories .The historical materialistic 'alienation theory systematized by Hegel and Marx is based on tlie determination of objectivity by externalizing the medium of the inner language. Since every expression is a linguistic formation, the above-mentioned determination, from the standpoint of the question of literary theory of fiction, can be made more productive through commentary .Within tlie context of the accumulation of idealist philosophy equated with Kant, first, according to die concept of construction using such meanings as design, institution, structure, humans can both develop fiction and can also analyze the fictions that were developed by others. In line with this intellectual tradition, according to neo-Kantian theorists, like Hans Vaihinger, who developed the 'as if' philosophy, all concepts are fiction. The truth or untruth of fictions cannot be questioned; they have to be accepted as they are. This proposition represents the foundation of the intellectual basis for tlie fictionality of literary works.Humboldt and de Saussure, besides indirectly examining the concept of literary fiction, developed views that formed the foundation of tlie quality of fictionality in their determinations of the character of the linguistic sign. Firstly, the principle of the arbitrariness and accidentality of tlie linguistic sign contains important intellectual clues from the standpoint of both the polysemy of literary works and the possibility of different interpretations that result from this. The basic quality of literary works is fiction. For this reason it is not possible to question whether there are indirect ties to reality with the personalities and die fictional events diat exist in literary works. The reason diis cannot be questioned is because in literary dieory die necessity of die literary convention' principle is diat every type of writing and every type of reading has to be accepted as fiction.
