Abstract

In this article, the meaning of the concept of “deconstruction” be will briefly be introduced and its relationship with literature and language will be considered based on the views of Jacques Derrida. There are some other usages for this concept, but I would prefer to use the term: “deconstruction” in this article. The reason for this choice can be explained as follows: The concept of “deconstruction”, suggested and constructed by Derrida, derived from the concepts of “destruction” and “construction”, as it includes the actions of both “destroying” and “constructing”. In examining articles and other publications dealing with this concept, it is obvious that the usage of the concept of “deconstruction” is common. This usage emphasizes “constructing” and thus, it is associated with the concept “construction” that is one of the main concerns of scientific works. However, the concept of “deconstruction” is not associated with the context of “building” or “establishing” and the dimensions of “formation” and “synthesis”. It will certainly be useful to think about their equivalences in the translation of this concepts into Turkish. If the contextual and ideational aspects of this concept referred to in this article are clarified in the literary and linguistic contexts, then it will become evident that there is a need to rethink the equivalences of the translations of this concept into Turkish.
