Abstract

In this compilation of her short stories about Bozcaada, Hâle Seval displays a realistic and humanitarian approach through the metaphor of a courtyard. This paper handles the artistic- ontological perspective she has referred to, realistic storytelling and its historical features. The study underlines features like the literary approach devoid of ideology in the life-individual relationship in daily life, humans as an entity of society-nature, an ethical weave of philosophical richness, the non-contradictory characters of her characters. Since Hâle Seval portrays her characters as an individual members of society, and as an ethical entity the individual displays substance, her story- human dichotomy have been analyzed from a sociological and philosophical perspective
