WRITERS OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE, WRITERS OF THE WORLD

Abstract

In this article, we endorse the right of foreign writers to choose the French language as means of expression in a multilingual world. This free choice of linguistic expression allows the approach of the Other, as well as the awareness that the Other is not just the Other. Moreover, it facilitates greatly the familiarization with the foreign and the strange, aids us in overcoming the obstacles of a cultural and civilizing education and, most of all, reinforces in us a feeling of belonging in a much broader cultural education. Finally, it requires us to think, see and understand differently the meaning of Otherness and the world itself. Through this concept, the francophone writers are identified as writers of the world.
