Özet

Öz Kâğıdın bulunmasıyla birlikte hayattaki yerini alan unsurudur, mektup. Aynı zamanda dünya kurulduğu günden beri var olan insanlar arasındaki iletişimin en eski öğesidir. Edebiyat sosyal hayatın bir nevi yansıması olarak düşünüldüğünde mektup da edebiyat dünyasındaki yerini alacaktır. Edebiyatın özellikle bir edebî tür olan romanın ortaya çıkmasıyla birlikte mektubun edebiyat açısından işlevselliği artmıştır. Bu artan işlevsellikle birlikte mektup, bir anlatım tekniği hüviyetini kazanmak için hızla yol almaya başlamıştır. Bu artan önemle birlikte mektup-roman adı verilen bir anlatım tekniği ortaya çıkmıştır. İngiltere, Fransa, Almanya, Rusya gibi ülke edebiyatlarında kullanılan bu mektup-roman tekniği Tanzimat yıllarından itibaren bizim edebiyatımızda da kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Özellikle kadın yazarlarımızın ilgi gösterdiği bu roman tekniğinde, zaman zaman kendi hayatlarından da istifade ettikleri için bir nevi otobiyografik roman türüne yaklaşmışlardır. Mektup, hem genel hem de özel bilgilerin okuyucuyla paylaşılması için mükemmel bir araçtır. Bu gibi benzeri özelliklerden dolayı da zamanında sıklıkla tercih edilen bir anlatım tekniği olmuştur. Yazılı iletişim unsuru olan mektup, roman türü için son derece elverişli bir araçtır. Roman anlatımı sırasında mektuplar, bazen bir entrika unsuru olabildiği gibi bazen de romanın hepsi peşi sıra gelen mektuplardan oluşmuştur. Bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturan Halide Edip Adıvar’ın Handan romanı ile Samuel Richardson’un Clarissa Harlowe isimli eserleri bu mektup-roman tekniği ile kaleme alınmışlardır. Mektup, özel ve şahsi olması, samimi veya doğal anlatıma sahip olması, genellikle birinci tekil kişi ağzından yazılması, yazılan kişiyle ilgili muhtelif haberleri ve sırları barındırması, mektup vasıtasıyla birden çok anlatıcının romana dâhil olmasını sağladığı için çoğulcu bir bakış açısını yakalaması gibi çeşitli özellikleriyle kurmaca bir tür olan roman için elverişli bir anlatım tekniğidir. Girişte mektup ve bu mektup türünün gelişimi anlatılmış devamında ise mektup-roman hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Devamında ise bahse konu olan Halide Edip Adıvar’ın Handan romanı ile Samuel Richardson’un Clarissa Harlowe isimli eserleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmada bahse konu olan eserlerden örnekler verilmemiştir.

Abstract

Letter is the element that takes its place in life with the discovery of paper. It is also the oldest element of communication between people, which has existed since the day the world was founded Dec. Considering literature as a kind of reflection of social life, the letter will also take its place in the literary world. With the advent of the novel, a literary genre in particular, the functionality of the letter in terms of literature has increased. With this increased functionality, the letter began to move quickly to gain the identity of a narrative technique. With this increasing importance, a narrative technique called Letter-novel emerged. This letter-novel technique, which is used in the literature of countries such as England, France, Germany and Russia, has also been used in our literature since the Tanzimat years. Especially in this novel technique, which our women writers are interested in, our women writers have approached a kind of autobiographical novel genre, as they have from time to time taken advantage of their own lives. The letter is an excellent tool for sharing both public and private information with the reader. Because of such similar features, it was often a preferred expression technique at the time. Letters, which are an element of written communication, are an extremely convenient tool for the genre of novels. During the narrative of the novel, Letters can sometimes be an element of intrigue, and sometimes the entire novel consists of letters that follow. Halide Edip Adıvar's Handan novel and Samuel Richardson's Clarissa Harlowe were written using this novel technique. Letters to be private and personal, sincere or natural expression, are usually the first to be written from the mouth of the person, various news and host of secrets about the person typed the letter a pluralistic perspective that is included in the novel through multiple narrators with various features such as capture of a fictitious narrative for a novel kind, which is convenient technique. In the introduction, the letter and the development of this type of letter are described, and in the continuation, information about the novel letter is given. In the sequel, Halide Edip Adıvar's novel Handan and Samuel Richardson's works by Clarissa Harlowe were focused on the subject. Only in this study of these works, examples of the works mentioned were not given.
