Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was the assessment of the ST elevation and/or T pseudonormalisation af the end of the exercise test, in the diagnosis of myocardial viability. Material and Method: Sixty patients with Q wave myocardial infarction (MI) and coronary artery disease proven by coronarv angiography (51 men, 9 women, mean age: 55±10 years, 44 anterior MI and 16 inferior MI) were admitted to the study. The myocardial viability of the infarct related segments was determined by exercise TI-20I scintighrapy and the segments uptaking more than 50 % on the delayed images were accepted viable. Results: In 49 patients, there was ST elevation or pseudonormalisation at the end of the exercise, and there was no difference in 11 patients. Three hundred and twenty seven of 360 segments related with infarction at 60 patients were found viable. The sensitivity, specifity, positive and negative predictive values of ST elevation and/or T pseudonormalisation to deled myocardial viability were 80 %, 0.3 %, 89 % and 0.1 %, respevtively. Discussion: As a result, because of its low specifity: ST elevation and/or T pseudonormalisation with exercise have a limited place in the diagnosis of myocardial viability..
