Abstract

Purpose.- The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate the. effects of connective tissue manipulation (CTM) on general pain intensity, sleep disturbance and connective tissue tenderness in patients with Primary Fibromyalgia Syndrome (PFS). Material and Methods.- Twenty female subjects with PFS (mean age: 34 years) were treated by CTM for fıfteen sessions in three weeks. Ali subjects were evaluated prior to and after the treatment by different examiners. Age (year), educational status (year) and employment status of the patients were recorded and the evaluations included tenderness of the connective tissue, sleep disturbance and general pain intensity. Results.- in comparison of the pre-treatment and post-treatment values, statistically signifıcant improvements were found in tenderness degree of the connective tissue, percentage of sleep disturbance and general pain intensity (p
