Abstract
Effect of unilateral visuospatial neglect on cognitive-perceptual functions and activities of daily living in hemiplegic patients Purpose: This study was planned to investigate the effect of unilateral visuospatial neglect to cognitive-perceptual functions and activities of daily living (ADL), and to examine the correlation between these parameters. Material and methods: Forty hemiplegic patients with an age range of 48-81 years, with no history of previous cerebrovascular accident or rehabilitation were included in the study. Firstly, using the Behavioural Inattention Test (BIT), patients were divided into two groups according to the presence (UN +) and absence (UN -) of unilateral visuospatial neglect. After the recordings of demographic findings, Ayres Southern California Sensory Integration subtests for sensory integration dysfunctions and Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) for cognitive functions were applied. The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) was used for ADL of hemiplegics. Results: According to the results, in patients with unilateral visuospatial neglect, levels of ADL independence were lower (p
