Özet
İnfanttl Tibia Vara (Bloımt's disease) sebebi tibia fizisin posteromedialinde mekanik yetersizlik olan idiopatik gelişimsel bir problemdir. Tedavi edilmezse tibial vants ilerler. Defomite genellikle bilateraldir.
Abstract
Infantile tibia vara (Blount's disease) is an idiopathic developmental problem, the probable cause of which is a mechanical insufficiency in thepos- teromedial part of the tibial physis. If not treated, tibial varus progresses. The deformity is usually bilateral. The type of disease seen before the age of3 years is called infantile and that, observed between 4-10 years, adolescent type. Race, sex (higher incidence in girls), early walking, obesity are considered as predisposing factors. Straightening of the leg in this postural disturbance, observed during the developmental period, can be achieved by use of corrective orthoses during activities of daily living. Eary diagnosis and orthotic treatment abolish the needfor-operative intervention. To illustrate this, the presentation of a case of an 18 months old girl who had been followed up since the early stages of the disease and who had also joint laxity was considered appropriate. The role of the rehabilitation approach and the use of orthoses ivas discussed in the light of the literature, the findings during a one year follow-up period and improvement were demonstrated.
