Özet

Bu çalışma, 2000 yılı içerisinde Elazığ yöresinde güvercinlerde (Columba livia) kan parazitlerini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu süre içerisinde 53 güvercinden perifer kan frotisi hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan preparatlar % 5'lik Giemsa boya solüsyonunda (% 5, pH 7.2) boyandıktan sonra mikroskopta immersion objektifi altında incelenmişlerdir. Mikroskopik inceleme sonucunda 53 güvercinin 39'unda (% 73.58) Haemoproteus columbae tespit edilmiştir. Başka bir kan paraziti saptanamamıştır.

Abstract

This study was performed to investigate blood parasites in pigeons in Elazığ district in the year of 2000. During this period peripheral blood smears were prepared from a total of 53 pigeons (Columba livia). The smears were stained with Giemsa's stain solution (5 %, pH 7.2) then examined under the microscope with oil objective. Thirty nine (73.58 %) out of the 53 pigeons were found infected with Haemoproteus columbae. No other blood parasites were detected.
