Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate seropositivity of specific IgM antibodies developed against atypical pneumoniae pathogens and to compare this with the control group. Material and Method: Serum samples taken from 90 pediatric patients who were diagnosed with CAP in the 0-14 age group and whose condition was serious enough to require hospitalization and 30 healthy children, a single IFA kit was used for the most common 20 atypical pathogens (Respiratory Tract Profile IgM, Euroimmune, Lübeck, Germany). The frequency of these factors, the distribution of factors according to age, gender and seasons were determined. This study does not cover pneumonia that develops in patients with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency and patients with underlying chronic diseases. Results: There were seropositivity at 61 children in patients’ group and 7 children in control group. Sensitivity and specifity of the test were 76,7%. In statistical analyse, seropositivity of patients’ group was significantly higher than control group (p
