KENDİLİK PROBLEMİ: POLİTİK VE METAFİZİK BAĞLAMDA BİR PERFORMATİF KENDİLİK İNCELEMESİ

THE PROBLEM OF SELF: INQUIRY OF PERFORMATIVE SELF IN THE POLITICAL AND METAPHYSICAL CONTEXT

Özet

Kendilik (self/person) problemi felsefe tarihi boyunca farklı tartışma zeminlerinde ele alınan temel problemlerden biri olarak karşımızda durmaktadır. Felsefi zemini Herakletios ve Parmenides tartışmasıyla şekillenen ve Herakletios’un argümanlarıyla günümüze kadar ulaşan kendilik problemi, insanın ve özelde de öznenin oluş koşullarını ve bu koşulların ifade biçimlerini içermektedir. Modern dönem ve hemen öncesinde ise kendilik kişi, birey, özne ve ben bağlamında bilen, eyleyen, anlamlandıran özne olarak ele alınmıştır. Özellikle modern dönemde bilme-eyleme ilişkisinde özne-ben’in (subject-ego) soy kütüğü temel tartışma konusu olmuştur. Tartışmanın seyri çağdaş dönemde etimolojik, ontolojik, etik ve politik açıdan “kendilik nedir?” sorusuna doğru evrilmiştir. Sorunun ana eksenini de kendilik, benlik, özne olmaklık, öznellik, bireysellik ile öznelerarasılık, toplumsallık, başkalık/ötekilik arasında kurulan dinamik ilişkiler ve giderek göreceliliğin ön plana çıkartıldığı yaklaşımlar oluşturmaktadır. Kendilik tartışmasını şu sorularla ilişkinlendirerek ele alacağız: “Birşeyin kendiliği ile öznenin kendiliği arasında bir ilişki var mı? Mimari bir eser ve özne-kendi tanımlanırken aynı açıklama modellerine başvurabilir miyiz? Kendilik yekpare, verili, biçimlendirilmiş bir şey midir? Başka bir ifadeyle kendilik bir öz müdür? Yoksa süreç içinde ve belirli bir mekanda kurulan oluş mudur? Ya da olma durumları mıdır?” Bütün bu sorular tartışmanın ontolojik, epistemolojik, etik ve politik boyutlarına işaret etmektedir. Bu noktada çalışmamızın iddiası: “Çağdaş dönemde kendiliğin temellendirilişi klasik anlamda felsefe yapabilmenin olanaklarını aşmaktadır”. Bu iddiayı dikkate alarak kendilik tartışmalarının tarihsel ve kavramsal boyutu bağlamında bireyin varoluşunu inşa etme imkanını veren felsefi yöntem(ler) nelerdir sorusuna cevap arayacağız. Araştırmamızda bu konu üzerinde durularak kendiliğin politik ve metafizik bağlamı bizatihi kendiliğin ne olduğu, bilinçle bağlantısı ve özne olmak açısından Foucault’nun iddia ve eleştirileri çerçevesinde incelenecektir.

Abstract

The problem of self / person is one of the main issues that have been discussed in different discussion grounds throughout the history of philosophy. The problem of self, which is believed to have started with the discussion of Heracletios and Parmenides and has survived to the contemporary age with the arguments of Heracletios, includes the conditions of human being and in particular the subject of being and the forms of expression. The discussion has been directed what self is in the contemporary era. With this question self was highlighted such as a knowing, acting and meaningful subject in the context of individual, subject, person and ego before and during the modern period. The genealogy of subject-ego has been the main issues of discussion in the relationship between knowing and acting especially in the modern period. The main axis of discussion has been determined by increasingly relativistic approaches and dynamic relations inbetween self, personality, being a subject, subjectivity, individuality and intersubjectivity, otherness. Within this framework, discussions about the self are related to the following questions: Is there a relationship between the self of something and the self of the subject. Can we apply the same explanatory models when describing an architectural work and subject-self? “Is self given, a solid, formatted thing? Another words, is self substance? Or is it in process and is it being in specific space? Or is it being event?” all these questions refer to ontological, epistemological, ethical, and political aspects of discussion. In this context our claim is that “the foundation of the self in the contemporary era exceeds the possibilities of classical philosophy”. Taking in to account of this, we will look at the question of what are the philosophical methods that allow us to build the existence of the individual in the context of the historical and conceptual dimension of self-discussions. In this article, the political and metaphysical context of the self will be emphasized, the connection to consciousness and the being subject will be examined within the framework of Foucault's claims and criticisms.
