Büyük melen ve kollarındaki su kalitesi

Özet

Bu çalışmada Karadeniz bölgesinde bulunan ve İstanbul su temini projesi kapsamında olan Büyük Melen Nehri ve kolları üzerindeki sekiz noktadan her ay alınan su numunelerinde yapılan ölçümler değerlendirilmiştir. Büyük Melen Nehri'nin kollarından Asar Suyu'nun su kalitesi 3. Sınıf, Küçük Melen'in 2. Sınıf, Aksu ve Uğur Suyu'nun 1. Sınıf, Büyük Mele'nin su kalitesinin ise 2. Sınıf olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bölgede yerleşme ve sanayileşme hızla arttığı için nehirlerdeki su kalitesinin olumsuz yönde etkilendiği gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca Büyük Melen nehrinde erozyondan kaynaklanan sediment yüksek ölçülmüştür. Bu durumda 2002 yılında İstanbul'a su temini amacıyla Büyük Melen Nehri üzerinde yapılacak olan Melen regülatöründe siltasyon problemi olacaktır.

Abstract

In this study monthly measures have been made and evaluated by taking water samples from eight different points from the river Büyük Melen and its branches. The Büyük Melen is a river in the West Black-Sea Region and subject to water supplying project to Istanbul. The results show that the stream Asar is of the third quality of water, The Küçük Melen is of the second, The Aksu and The Uğursuyu rivers are of the first class and the Büyük Melen is of the second class of water. It is clearly observed that the water quality has been badly affected recently because of fast growing industrialization and urbanisation in the region. Also the amount of sediment content has been found high. It is expected that a siltation problem will occur in the Melen regulator which will supply water to Istanbul in 2002.
