Abstract

In this study, inert soluble products were investigated in batch reactor feeding on glucose with the initial substrate $(S_0)$ concentrations of 100 mg COD/1 and 200 mg COD/1 and initial microorganism$(X_0)$ concentrations of 100, 200 mg MLSS/1. Sufficient nutrients and oxygen were supplied to and microorganisms at pH 7 and 20°C temperature in a 2 litre volume of batch reactor. As a result of the study, COD removal efficiencies were determined as 81% in (200 mg COD/1) / (200 mg MLSS/1) reactor; and 78% in (100 mg COD/1)/(100 mg MLSS/1). The inert product concentrations were determined tobe equal in each reactor at the end of 10 days analysing time in the organic loading rate of 1 in both reactor systems. Moreover, average SR concentrations were measured as 38 mg COD/1 at the end of 47 days analysing period in $S_0/X_0$= (100 mg COD/1) / (100 mg MLSS/1) reactor.
