Abstract
In this study the germination biology, phenology and genetic diversity of fourresistant and eight sensitive biotypes of A. sterilis belong to four locations(Marmara, Akdeniz, North Cyprus, İran) was compared. The results indicatedthat the different temperatures have significant effect on the germination rateof the A. sterilis seeds. The resistant populations consistently displayed highergermination rate than the sensitive populations at all temperature. There werestatistically significant differences among populations in terms of phonologicalstages. When the sensitive and resistance populations belonging to samelocations compared, the flowering and seed maturity stages of the sensitivepopulations of İranian and Marmara populations occurred earlier than theirresistance populations. Also the dry weight of above-ground organs ofsensitive populations was higher in İranian and Marmara populations. Thegenetic diversity among the twelve populations were determinated with RAPD-PCR and a dendogram was created. A total of 21 fragment were amplified, among which 17 (80.9 %) products were found to be polymorphic. The result ofcluster analysis showed that the 12 biotypes classified into 2 groups whichcould be divided into 4 subgroups further. The genetic variation betweendifferent populations were generally larger than those within every population.
