Özet

Sağlık Bakanlığı Bakırköy Kadın Doğum ve Çocuk Hastalıkları Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi'nde doğum yapmış, emzirme eğitimi verilmiş annelerin anne sütü (AS) verme sürelerini belirlemek, özellikle 0-6 ay sadece AS verme oranlarını ortaya koymaktı. 0-24 aylık bebeklere AS verme oranları araştırıldı. Önceki bebeğini emzirme ile AS verme süresi arasındaki ilişki anlamlı bulundu. AS alanlarda almayanlara göre enfeksiyon hastalığı riski anlamlı derecede düşük idi.

Abstract

To determine the nursing duration of mothers who had delivered in Bakırköy maternity and childrens' hospital, and had been educated about breastfeeding, to evaluate the rate of only breastfeeding especially for the first six months among educated mothers. Mothers who had delivered in our hospital and brought their 0-24 month-old children to the outpatient clinic with some simple complaints without any significant disease were given a poll. Prenatal following, whether educated about breastfeeding at the delivery room, supporters of the mother about breastfeeding, breastfeeding duration, onset of mixed feeding, the diseases baby had, and socioeconomic state were asked. To be objective, forms were filled by the quality management education nurses. 1000 mothers participated to the poll between (June 1st, 2003 to March 3Öh, 2004) Breastfeeding ratio among 0-24 month-old babies were evaluated. The incidence was 98.7% in during the first month and 78.3% between 1-6 months. 89.4 % of babies were breastfed in the delivery room. Education about breastfeeding were given by a physician and/or a nurse-midwife. The relation between education and duration of breastfeeding were statistically significant (p:0,000). Breastfeeding duration was also significantly related to whether the mother nursed her other babies. The risk of infectious diseases was significantly lower in breastfed babies. As a baby-friend hospital we emphasized the need and benefits of breastfeeding without any other nourishment during the first six months. The incidences obtained with education were found to be higher than other studies performed in our country and other countries.
