Abstract
Aim: The objective of this study was to investigate the mortality and morbidity rates and factors predicting prognosis in elderly patient group (>65 years of age) operated due to peptic ulcer perforation (PUP). Methods: All patients admitted to Adana City Training and Research Hospital between March 2015 and March 2020 due to PUP were included in our study. Preoperative-intraoperative demographical, clinical and laboratory parameters and postoperative complications of the patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Data of a total of 110 patients were included in the study. The mean age of the patients in our study was 77.28(±7.93). Mortality rate was 36.4% (n:40) and morbidity ratio was 63.6% (n:70) for the patients over 65 years of age. Age, gender, ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) score and perforation area size were found to be clinical parameters predicting mortality (p:0.006, p:0.014, p:
