The Role of Chest CT in Diagnosis of COVID 19 Pneumonia Comparison With Gold Standard RT PCR

Özet

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic performance of computed tomography CT) and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) in Coronavirus Disease 2019 COVID 19 Methods After exclusions, the final cohort consisted of 640 patients RT PCR was considered as gold standard for diagnosis Patients were grouped as positive or negative (CT score 0 and positive patients were also subgrouped as low (CT score 1 medium (CT score 2 and high (CT score 3 suspect for COVID 19 based on CT findings Results Of all patients 339 patients were confirmed as positive on RT PCR, 301 patients were negative Of these 339 patients who had positive RT PCR results 303 89 patients had positive CT findings (CT scores of 1 3 suggestive of COVID 19 and 36 11 patients had a CT score of 0 and no suspicious findings for COVID 19 Of these 301 patients who had negative RT PCR results 173 57 patients had CT findings suggestive of COVID 19 In 173 36 of 476 patients with positive CT findings (CT scores 1 3 and also in 122 31 of 392 patients with typical CT findings (CT score 3 suggestive of COVID 19 RT PCR results were negative Sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and accuracy rates of CT scan in diagnosing COVID-19 were found as 89%, 43%, 64%, 78%, and 67% respectively. Conclusion: Chest CT examination has high sensitivity value in the diagnosis of COVID-19 and can be used together with RT-PCR test at the time of pandemic.
