Abstract

Introduction: CoolSense is a local anesthetic method which could be used in all age periods and in all injections. In order for the method to reduce pain, it is sufficient to apply it on the area to be operated for five seconds. As long as it is kept in the deep-freezer section, it is ready for instant use and it can also be reused. It is an easy method because it shows an anesthetic effect in a short time, contains no chemicals and requires no preparation for use. Aim: The purpose of this compilation is to explore the studies which use the CoolSense method. Material and Method: No date limiting was used for attaining relevant studies and screening was performed in the databases “PubMed”, “ULAKBIM”, “ProQuest” and “Science Direct” using the keyword “CoolSense”. Only full-text studies were included in the review. Results: As a result of the screening, only three different publications were attained. Since one of them was a letter to the editor, it was excluded from the study. Among the other two publications concerning pain; one was performed during an intravenous cannulation procedure in children and the other one during a finger saccharimetry procedure in adults. In these studies, it was found that the CoolSense method had a pain-relieving impact and patients and companions were satisfied with the method. Conclusion: In the literature review which was performed within the scope of the study, it was seen that studies on the CoolSense method was too few in number. It is suggested that effectiveness of the CoolSense method, which is both an easy and time-saving method, is evaluated with more studies.
