Katılımcıların çoğu evli %52.1 ve %67.5’i yaşamının büyük bölümünü ilde geçirmiştir. Katılımcıların %82.9’u çalışmakta olup %12.1’i toplumsal cinsiyet kavramını duymadığını ifade etmektedir. Katılımcıların ETCE’ den aldıkları genel puan ortalaması 50.43±14.61’dır. Katılımcıların yaş grubu, yakınlarının cinsiyeti, medeni durumu ve çocuk sahibi olma, çalışma durumu, ölçek toplamı ve alt boyutlarından elde edilen toplam puan ortalamaları üzerinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farklılık saptanmamıştır(p>0.05). Öğrenim durumu, aile tipi, en uzun süre yaşadıkları yer arasında ölçek toplamı ve alt boyutlarından elde edilen toplam puan ortalamaları üzerinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farklılık saptanmıştır (p
Abstract
Objective: This study was conducted to determine the patients' male companions' thoughts on gender equality. Material and Methods: The sample of the descriptive study was composed of the male companions of 240 patients hospitalized in a Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul. The data were evaluated using a questionnaire form created by the researcher and the Men's Gender Equality (ETCE) Scale. In the evaluation of the data, Tukey HSD was used as the analysis of the number-percentage calculations t test, Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney U test. Results: 37.9% of the participants are university graduates. Most of the respondents were married 52.1% and 67.5% spent most of their life in the province. 82.9% of the participants were working and 12.1% said they did not hear the concept of collective gender. The average overall score of the participants from ETCE is 50.43±14.61. There were no statistically significant differences in the age group, gender of relatives, marital status, childbearing, working status, scale total and overall score averages(p>0.05). Statistically significant differences were found between education status, family type, the place where they lived for the longest period of time on the total scale and the total score averages obtained from their lower dimensions (p>0.05). Conclusion: It may be suggested to include the issue of gender equality in the education programs conducted by healthcare professionals in hospitals for patients and their relatives.
